Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 2, 2026
CrunchyPDF is built privacy-first. Every PDF tool on this site runs entirely inside your own web browser. The files you compress, merge, split, or convert are never uploaded to any server — they never leave your device. This policy explains exactly what that means, and the limited data the website itself handles.

1. Scope of this policy
This Privacy Policy applies to the website located at www.crunchypdf.com ("CrunchyPDF", "we", "us", or "the site") and to the PDF tools offered on it. By using the site you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the site.
2. Your files and documents
This is the most important section, so we put it first. CrunchyPDF processes your files locally, in your browser. When you select a PDF or image to compress, merge, split, or convert:
- The file is read into your browser's memory using standard JavaScript file APIs.
- All processing — parsing, page rendering, compression, re-packaging — is performed by code running on your own device's processor.
- The finished file is handed back to your browser as a download.
- At no point is the file, its contents, its name, or any derivative of it transmitted to CrunchyPDF or to any third party.
We never receive, see, store, log, or have access to the documents you process. When you close or reload the tab, anything held in memory is discarded. You can verify this yourself: open your browser's developer tools (press F12), choose the Network tab, and run any tool — you will see that no request carries your file data off your machine.
3. Information we collect
Because the tools are client-side, we collect very little. The categories below describe the only data involved in your visit:
Information you actively provide
If you email us (for example at our support address), we receive whatever you choose to include in that message — typically your email address and the content of your inquiry. We use it only to respond to you.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, our hosting provider may automatically log standard technical request data such as your IP address, browser type, operating system, referring page, and the date and time of access. This is used for security, troubleshooting, and aggregate traffic measurement. We do not use it to identify you personally.
Information we do NOT collect
- We do not require or offer account registration.
- We do not collect your name, mailing address, or payment information (the tools are free).
- We do not collect, retain, or transmit the contents of any document you process.
4. Cookies and local storage
A cookie is a small text file stored by your browser. CrunchyPDF's own functionality uses only minimal browser storage:
- Local storage is used to remember that you have accepted our Terms of Service and to remember your chosen interface language, so you are not prompted on every visit. This data stays on your device and is not sent to us.
- Third-party cookies may be set by our advertising partner (see the next section). These are controlled by that partner, not by us.
You can clear or block cookies and local storage at any time through your browser settings. Blocking them will not stop the PDF tools from working, though you may be asked to re-accept the Terms.
5. Advertising and Google AdSense
CrunchyPDF is supported by advertising. We use Google AdSense, a third-party advertising service provided by Google LLC, to display ads on this site. The following disclosures apply:
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website and other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to CrunchyPDF and/or other sites on the Internet.
- You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
- You can opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalised advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info/choices or, in the EU, www.youronlinechoices.eu.
- For more information about how Google uses data when you use our site, see Google's Privacy & Terms — How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
Advertising cookies and any data they collect are governed by the privacy policies of Google and the respective ad vendors, not by CrunchyPDF. Importantly, advertising relates only to your browsing activity — never to the contents of the files you process, which we cannot access.
6. Analytics
We may use privacy-respecting, aggregate analytics to understand overall traffic levels (for example, how many people visited a page). Where used, analytics measure trends in aggregate and are not used to build individual profiles of identifiable visitors. If we use a third-party analytics provider, its data handling is governed by its own privacy policy.
7. Third-party libraries and links
The tools rely on open-source JavaScript libraries (such as PDF.js, pdf-lib, PDFKit, and JSZip). Some libraries and fonts may be loaded from a content delivery network (CDN); when this happens, your browser requests the file from that CDN, which may log standard request data such as your IP address as part of delivering the file. No document data is ever sent in these requests.
Our pages may link to external websites (for example, alternative PDF tools, or our advertising and opt-out partners). We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those external sites; we encourage you to review their privacy policies.
8. Children's privacy
CrunchyPDF is a general-audience utility and is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to remove it.
9. Your privacy rights (GDPR / CCPA)
Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding personal data, including the right to access, correct, or delete data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Because we do not maintain user accounts or store the documents you process, the personal data we hold is limited to any correspondence you send us and standard server logs.
- EEA/UK (GDPR): You may request access to or deletion of personal data we hold about you, and you may lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
- California (CCPA/CPRA): You may request disclosure of the categories of personal information collected and request deletion. We do not sell personal information.
To exercise any right, contact us using the details below. We may need to verify your identity before responding.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, or legal requirements. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes will be made clearly visible on the site. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
11. How to contact us
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or your data, please reach us via our Contact page or by email at support@crunchypdf.com. We aim to respond within 24–48 hours.
